Statement of Purpose
Reading is for everyone!

I plan to have a strong sense of equity and to meet each child where they are. I want to engage my students by introducing them to different types of literature and to instill a passion for learning. I want them to be able to read between the lines on the page and to make real life connections by close reading and critical literacy. I understand that every child learns differently, so I plan to offer different types of assignments that incorporate media, readers theatre, music, and writing. Most importantly, I believe that the students, parents and I have clear communication, so I want to keep them involved as much as possible.
The Goal

1. They will take part in hands on activities

2. They will be able to think on their own and to develop their own opinions and convictions about the world around them.

3. They will be introduced to diversity and the beauty thereof.
​
4. Each student will be respected and valued in my classroom.
​
5. They will have a voice in the classroom. Their opinion will have an effect on how the class goes.
